Blantyre Victoria boss John Gibson bemoaned his side’s lack of concentration during a crazy ten-minute spell against Pollok.
The Vics conceded three goals in quick succession at the start of the second-half as the ‘Lok raced to a four goal lead.
Blantyre responded well and produced an encouraging performance for the remainder of the game with John Cunningham scoring a brilliant late consolation.
Gibson was without the services of some key players and the Vics boss was pleased with his team’s performances apart from costly period.
“That five minute spell killed us,” Gibson said. “We weren’t concentrating at the start of the second half, they scored three goals and we were chasing the game at that.
“Basically all the goals were set-pieces but they put quality balls into the box and they are a very good side.
“They capitalised on us switching off for that spell but we managed to get a foothold back in the game.
“We managed to calm it down in the second half but the players gave absolutely everything and we can’t complain about that.
“We stuck at it and I’m happy with our performance after that crazy spell. We had under-20 boys in the squad and they played really well.
“We were here to compete and make ourselves hard to beat against Pollok. They are a really good side.
“We competed really well in the first half but we conceded a good goal at the wrong time. It was a good exercise for us and it’ll set us in good stead for our next game on Wednesday night.”
