Blantyre Vics boss John Gibson says there are no excuses for heavy defeats and is trying to strengthen – but is finding that difficult.
Gibson says players aren’t keen to join Vics for some reason but will go to clubs with bigger squads.
But after Pollok and Kilwinning both hit five goals in their last three games, Gibson says he’s working hard to turn things around.
“It’s always a step-up and it has been a difficult start for us,” said Gibson.
“We couldn’t have hand-picked a harder start for us with the teams we’ve got – Pollok, Kilwinning, Auchinleck, Hurlford, Beith, Clydebank.

“I’m not happy with the start we’ve made, we’ve taken a couple of heavy defeats, and we shouldn’t be going down and losing five goals against any team.
“I wouldn’t say it was a 5-0 at Kilwinning on Saturday; their boy scored a worldy from 25 yards, and then another guy hit a bad cross, it hit the bar and dropped right at their player’s feet at the back post for a tap-in.
“Those are the kinds of things that happen to teams when you’re down there. You don’t get any breaks, you’ve got to keep working hard.
“We’re probably a wee bit short on quality, which is what I’m trying to get in, but it has been difficult to get players to come to Blantyre.
“We’ve been here before and we’ve turned it around, so I’ll work hard.”
