A Blantyre convenience store has once again been helping local families in need by providing shopping bags full of essentials for the New Year.
Premier Mo's, on 190 Main Street, left bags of food on the railings at Blantyre Miners Welfare earlier this week for anyone in the area struggling to make ends meet and who may find it difficult to go to a foodbank.
Inside the bags includes meat, rolls and lots of other fresh produce to make sure people have food in their fridge - with those in need being told to help themselves to one bag each, with no judgement.
Shop owner and local councillor Mo Razzaq and his team made up the bags of produce and told Lanarkshire Live: “We placed bags of food outside Blantyre Miners Welfare. In the bags was meat, rolls and other fresh products for anyone who has found themselves struggling.
"All we ask is that people only take one bag each as this will give more families in our town a chance to take them."
It's not the first time that Mo has helped those in his community, doing the same random act of kindness on several occasions throughout the year. He's also known for his generous donations to local charities and schools.
And now he plans on turning his food bag donations into a regular occurence.
He added: "We will do our utmost to have more bags placed regularly as we are firm believers that no family should be going hungry but unfortunately this is the case.
"Rest assured that businesses, groups and the people of Blantyre are certainly doing their best to help."
