Blantyre skatepark 'disturbance' involving group of youths prompts police probe

Police are appealing for information following reports of a 'disturbance' involving a number of youths at a skatepark in Blantyre.

Officers were called to the Glasgow Road area of Blantyre around 8:20 pm following reports of the rammy.

Local eyewitness reports suggest that at least 20 youths had gathered at the skatepark armed with 'broken bottles and knives' - and that three youths were subsequently taken to hospital for treatment after receiving injuries.

Police enquiries to establish the full circumstances are currently ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Around 8.20pm on Friday, 5 March, officers were called to the Glasgow Road area of Blantyre following a report of a disturbance involving a number of youths.

'Enquiries to establish the full circumstances are currently ongoing and anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident 3289 of 5 March. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous."
