Blantyre shooting victim Graham 'Kermit' Williamson to be laid to rest

A Scots dad who was gunned down in South Lanarkshire is set to be laid to rest a month after his death.

We previously told how Graham 'Kermit' Williamson was shot outside his home in Caithness Street, Blantyre at around 5pm on August 17.

The 26-year-old was raced to the University Hospital in Wishaw but died a short time later, and police launched a murder investigation into the dad-of-one's death.

Two men have been charged in connection with his death.

One month later, Graham's grieving loved ones can finally lay him to rest.

The hearse will drive along a number of roads in High Blantyre, including his childhood home in Burnbrae Road, on September 19.

Mourners have been asked to gather at the shops in Blantyre's Main Street, before close family move on to a private service.

A statement was published publicly on a local community Facebook page on Thursday.

It read: "Graham Williamson, loving son, partner, father, brother and friend will be laid to rest this Saturday, September 19.

"He will travel down Hunthill Road on to Stonefield Crescent then Stonefield Road and around to Burnbrae Road past his childhood home.

"Thereafter onwards to High Blantyre Main Street via Nursery Place at 11.20am.

"Due to Covid restrictions, attendance at the service will be limited.

"The family would therefore ask those who wish to say their goodbyes to gather around the top end of the shops, Priestfield, at Main Street where Graham will briefly stop before travelling on to a private service."

Police arrested and charged two men in connection with the incident.

Derek Felvus, 23, and James Baillie, 24, both appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court, on August 26 and September 3 respectively.
