Blantyre man who neglected cat is ordered to make £100 charity donation

A Blantyre man who neglected a cat has been ordered to make a £100 donation to an animal charity.

William Wylie, 67, of Woodend, admitted failing to provide adequate care for the household pet between March 2018 and January this year.

Hamilton Sheriff Court heard an inspector found the cat to be severely underweight and suffering from fleas, severe dermatitis and hair loss.

It also had dental lesions and weak limbs.

Sheriff Allan McKay deferred sentence until December for good behaviour and ordered Wylie to hand over £100 to the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
