Blantyre man tagged and banned for second drink-driving offence

A Blantyre driver has been banned for three years after his second conviction for being under the influence behind the wheel.

Sebastiano Colopi was also given an electronic tagging order at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week.

It prevents him leaving home at night for two months.

Colopi, 53, of Blackcraig Brae, admitted driving while unfit through drink or drugs in Tuphall Road, Hamilton, on February 1. He also admitted possession of cocaine.

Sheriff Shiona Waldron put Colopi under supervision for 12 months and said he must undertake drugs and alcohol counselling.

The sheriff told him: “This order is intended to help you overcome the problems which led to this offending.”
