Detective Constable Gareth Laird from Cambuslang CID said: “This appears to be an unprovoked attack and we are still checking relevant CCTV images for any additional information. I would urge anyone who was in the area on Saturday evening or early hours of Sunday morning to come forward with any information they may have.

"Likewise, I would be keen to hear about any vehicles which may have been seen entering or leaving the surrounding streets around this time. It may not have seemed important at the time but the information may prove significant to our investigation.”
