Blantyre care homes thank Lightbody Hamilton for donating cakes and biscuits

Residents of two Blantyre care homes have been enjoying some sweet treats courtesy of Lightbody Hamilton.

For the factory’s area manager Allison McGunnigle delivered dozens of trays of cakes and biscuits to Victoria Care Home and Calderglen Care Home as a little pick-me-up at this time of national crisis.

The move was met with much praise online with people keen to hail Lightbody, which is part of the Finsbury Food Group, for such a wonderful gesture.

Kerrie Anne Small posted on z Blantyre coronavirus support Facebook page: “Overwhelmed by these donations. Residents in both homes are delighted with their treats and cannot wait to get stuck in!

“Thank you so much Lightbody’s. Such a kind gesture and very much appreciated.”

Danielle Devlin added: “I work in Victoria House, we appreciate these donations. The residents cant wait till tea time.”

And Mary Gemmell Sutherland posted: “Fantastic! I’m sure they will be well appreciated.”

A spokesperson for Lightbody said: “In unprecedented times like this it is important to think of those around us and the community of Hamilton. It’s a small gesture but we hope that our cakes and treats will help brighten up people’s days. Our purpose remains ‘to make every day special’”.
