Blankety Blank host Bradley Walsh speechless at Swansea contestant's blunder on set

Bradley Walsh was left lost for words on Saturday night (November 5) when a contestant on his game show, Blankety Blank, which aired on Saturday, November 5 on BBC, walked off the stage before the programme had ended.

Katie, a mum-of-two, who is from Swansea, made the final round of the iconic show, which was revived last year and sees contestants filling in the missing words of statements and phrases with the help of a celebrity panel - this week, consisting of Strictly Come Dancing star Motsi Mabuse, Saffron Barker, Sophie Duker, comedian Jimmy Carr, Blue Peter host Matt Baker and Happy Mondays' Bez - and went home with, not the top prize of a surfing weekend in Cornwall, but £750 instead.

Offering his commiserations, Bradley, 62, praised the Welsh contestant for her hard work and said: "That's the way it goes, I'm so sorry Katie. I wish you well all the way back to Swansea" before he told her how much he adored her home town.

"Give my regards to everyone down there, I love it down there, smashing place. And the family as well." He added: "But of course, you've got £750 plus a Blankety Blank chequebook and pen. Is that alright?"

After seeming very happy with her prize money and the stationary, Katie was seen turning around and walking off the stage while Bradley was still talking to the audience before he turned back to where Katie was stood on the show, but she was already gone.

Katie, noticing Bradley's reaction, quickly returned to the stage, looking embarrassed for the blunder and apologised to the show host for her misunderstanding.

Making light of the mishap, celebrity guest Jimmy Carr tried to help and said: "Do you know what? That's the right attitude. If you don't win, just do one."

Blankety Blank airs on Saturdays on BBC One.
