Alan Hutton has hit out at Bruno Fernandes for setting a bad example for Manchester United youngsters with poor body language during games.
The 27-year-old has struggled so far this campaign, scoring just five goals in 25 appearances, a far cry from his scintillating form of last term.
Fernandes’ waning influence on United has coincided with Cristiano Ronaldo's return to the club and the Portuguese duo are rumoured not to be on the same page after struggling to play alongside each other at club level.
The pair have often previously been called out this season for their attitude during games, and former Scotland defender Hutton has expanded on the criticism by claiming Fernandes is failing to be a good role model for the likes of Mason Greenwood.
“Obviously we’re not privy to what’s going on in the dressing room, but there is a lot of noise around Manchester United at the moment," he told Football Insider.
“It’s not good. I’m hearing about things behind the scenes and that the dressing room isn’t happy. The biggest thing for me, from the outside looking in, is the body language of some of the players.
“You can be going through a slump, which is fine, but you’re still tackling, you’re still running about the pitch.
“Bruno Fernandes for one, a fantastic player, been excellent since he’s come to the club.
“He’s throwing his hands up in the air, blaming other people. This is the guy that these youngsters, like Greenwood, would look towards to really help them moving forward.”
