A West Dublin school has had to close today following a small fire.
Two Dublin Fire Brigade Engines rushed to the scene at Blakestown Community School after a roof went up in flames.
The fire, which was confined to a small area, was quickly controlled but the school decided to close due to the damage.
Works had been going on in the area the fire broke out.
The Dublin Fire Brigade said: "Two fire engines are dealing with a roof fire following works on a school in #Blanchardstown.
"The fire is under control and being dealt with."
The school was evacuated, and following inspection, decided to close for safety reasons.
Blakestown Community School said: "Blakestown Community School will unfortunately be closed today due to an incident with our roof repairs.
"Students safety is always our number one priority and that is why we have made the decision to send all students home this morning."
