Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds will not be attending the 2025 Met Gala, news outlets confirmed on Saturday.
The couple, who made heads turn when they co-chaired the fashion event, will now marking their continued absence at the gala since 2022. After TMZ broke the news, a source told PEOPLE, “Blake and Ryan haven’t gone since 2022, when they were co-chairs, and they will not be in attendance this year.”
The announcement comes as Lively and Reynolds remain embroiled in a multi-million dollar lawsuit involving Justin Baldoni, the director and co-star of It Ends With Us.
The legal dispute began in December when Lively filed a sexual harassment complaint against Baldoni and his co-producers with the California Civil Rights Department, alleging misconduct during the film's production and also alleged a 'smear campaign' for which she sought damages.
In response, Baldoni launched a $400 million defamation lawsuit against Lively, Reynolds, their longtime publicist Leslie Sloane, and Vision PR Inc., accusing them of attempting to damage his career. Baldoni also filed a separate defamation suit against The New York Times, challenging the outlet’s reporting on Lively’s allegations.
Blake and Ryan's Last Met Appearance
Lively and Reynolds, known for their glamorous red carpet appearances, last attended the Met Gala in 2022, where the actress stunned in a Versace gown inspired by the Statue of Liberty as part of the “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” theme.

The 2025 Met Gala, scheduled to take place on May 5, will spotlight Black dandyism and its influence on fashion history. According to Vogue, the theme—“Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”—draws inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. The exhibition will showcase garments, paintings, photographs, and more, tracing the evolution of Black men’s style from the 18th century to the present day.
While Lively and Reynolds may be skipping the event, fans can expect to see the two in court next year, where their legal dispute with Baldo has been scheduled for trial on March 9, 2026.
Meanwhile, both Blake and Ryan have filed motions to dismiss Baldoni's lawsuits.
