Blaise Matuidi opens door for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba to join Juventus

Paul Pogba would be welcome at Juventus this summer according to midfielder Blaise Matuidi.

Pogba has been linked with an exit from Manchester United after an inconsistent season at Old Trafford that has seen the Frenchman come in for criticism for some performances.

After joining from Juventus in 2016, Pogba has failed to live up to his £89m price tag on a consistent basis, and earlier this year claimed a move to Real Madrid would be a 'dream' transfer.

And a move back to Turin has also been rumoured for Pogba, so comments from his international teammate Matuidi about a potential switch back to Juve will be of interest to United supporters.

When asked by La Stampa whether Pogba would come back to Juventus, he simply said: “All great players are welcome here: I wish him the best and hope he makes the right decision.

Jose Mourinho says three problems are still at Manchester United

“Only he knows his situation and knows how good he really is.”

The comments come after former United defender Patrice Evra said his friend Pogba should leave the club if negativity around him continues.

He said: "I think (Pogba) will leave, because you need to feel the love when you play somewhere, you need to be committed.

"If Paul decides to stay another year and then leave, or stay another few years, maybe the fans will love him because he is committed.

Jose Mourinho appears to aim dig at Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

"When I go to the game and I see fans shouting and swearing at players, I am in shock. In my time, you can play the worst game of your life and they will clap you. I remember losing 4-1 at home to Liverpool and they were still singing. That's the United fans I know - they've just had enough.

"I don't talk for Paul, whether he stays or leaves, but when you have negativity around you, you should leave."
