Blairdardie Road incident: Man in hospital after 'stabbing' in daylight attack in Blairdardie

A man is in hospital after being attacked in a daylight attack in Blairdardie.

Emergency services raced to the scene on Blairdardie Road around 6.20pm on Monday following reports of a man being assaulted in the area.

A 31-year-old man was found injured at the scene and was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

Local reports suggest the man was stabbed, and police are believed to be following a 'positive line of enquiry'.

The man's condition is believed to be stable and he remains in hospital for treatment.

Police taped off part of the street and locals reported seeing a large police presence in the area, including police dogs.

A picture of the scene showed a police cordon around Blairdardie Convenience Store and the Sky Dragon takeaway with police standing guard outside.

It's understood Cloan Avenue was also taped off by officers but it is not clear if this is related to the incident.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At around 6.20pm on Monday, May 10 police received a report a man had been assaulted in Blairdardie Road, Drumchapel.

"Emergency services attended and the 31-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

"Enquiries are ongoing into the assault and officers are following a positive line of enquiry.

"Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting reference number 2929 of May 10."
