Blackpool's Jamie Devitt told to 'sort out situation' of his future amid reported Bolton Wanderers link

Blackpool's Jamie Devitt has been told by his manager Neil Critchley that he needs to 'sort out that situation' amid reports linking him with a move to Bolton Wanderers and other League Two rivals.

The 30-year-old midfielder appears to be out of favour at Bloomfield Road and has not been given a squad number for the upcoming campaign.

The Tangerines began their season over the weekend when they lost on penalties in the Carabao Cup first round to Championship side Stoke City.

Reports in the past have linked him with potential moves to Ian Evatt's Wanderers, as well as Carlisle United and Tranmere Rovers, all of whom will ply their trade in League Two this season.

And, speaking to the Blackpool Gazette, Devitt's boss Critchley confirmed that the player is aware of the circumstances surrounding his situation at Bloomfield Road and has been given a few weeks to resolve it.

"Jamie knows the situation, he’s been spoken to about it," said the Tangerines boss.

"He has a few weeks to sort out that situation, so we will wait and remain patient and see what happens."

The Irishman is yet to play a game for the Tangerines after joining the club last summer from Carlisle.

He spent last campaign out on loan at Bradford City, making only six appearances in all competitions for the Bantams.

Upon joining the Bloomfield Road club in the summer of 2019, Devitt penned a two-year deal with the option of an extra 12 months.

Since becoming Wanderers boss at the start of July, Evatt has signed 15 players for the Trotters, but accepted after the club's pre-season defeat to Wigan Athletic last week that the club needs 'some more bodies in the building'.
