Blackpool Gazette saves pier theatre

Live entertainment is returning to Blackpool's North Pier theatre after a four-month campaign by the Blackpool Gazettte to save the venue. Today's paper tells of the landmark victory achieved by its "Save Our Shows" campaign. It was launched in March after news broke that the pier theatre would remain silent for the first summer in its 129-year history. Now the company which runs the pier has relented by announcing that a trio of different weekly shows will be staged from next month, beginning with Viva Las Vegas. (Via blackpooltoday.co.uk)
