Blackpool boss in 'silly' response as Nottingham Forest transfer claim emerges

Nottingham Forest have had a bid for Blackpool winger Josh Bowler rejected, according to Sky Sports.

Bowler featured in Blackpool's New Year's Day triumph over Hull City, winning the penalty that saw the Seasiders claim a 1-0 success.

The 22-year-old joined Neil Critchley's side from Everton in the summer on a one-year deal, but with an option to extend.

He has so far featured in all Blackpool's 26 Championship games, scoring once and providing three assists.

Following the win over Hull, Critchley was asked about a rumoured approach for Bowler by the Reds.

"I’m not going to confirm anything or get involved in speculation, that would be wrong," Critchley told Blackpool Gazette.

"Silly season has started today, hasn’t it?

"You’ve only got to look at how Josh played today to see it didn’t affect him because I thought he was terrific.

"He’s been fantastic for us this season so we want to keep him at this football club."

Bowler has been one of Blackpool's standout performers, helping his side to beat promotion hopefuls Fulham in the league and Sunderland in the Carabao Cup.
