Blackley stabbing probe - man released under investigation after dad was knifed in street

A man who was arrested after a dad was knifed in front of his toddler in Blackley has been released under investigation.

Detectives investigating Sunday's attack arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder on Monday afternoon.

That man has now been released under investigation 'pending further enquiries,' police say.

The 31-year-old victim was stabbed as he was loading his child into his car on Southdown Crescent in broad daylight on Sunday.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Police now believe the attack was targeted.

Officers cordoned off a section of Southdown Crescent, which runs off Charlestown Road in Blackley, shortly before midday on Sunday following the attack.
