Drake Caggiula and Matthew Highmore each scored goals for the Chicago Blackhawks, who staved off playoff elimination Sunday with a 3-1 win over the Las Vegas Golden Knights.
Alex DeBrincat salted it away with his first playoff goal on an empty-netter with 10.8 seconds left.
The Hawks took a lead for the first time in the series on Caggiula's wrister about four minutes into the first period. It was the first time the Hawks scored first since the third game against the Edmonton Oilers in the qualifiers.
Highmore banked the Hawks' second goal off Robin Lehner's mask, but Shea Theodore answered 18 seconds later with a blast from the right point off Alec Martinez's pass.
Corey Crawford withstood a withering assault by the Golden Knights and racked up 46 saves, his second game of 40 or more this postseason. He had 43 saves in the clincher against the Oilers on Aug. 7.
He faced 20 shots and seven high-danger scoring chances in the first period and 36 shots through two frames. Nine attempts came during the penalty kill.
Crawford, who missed nearly all of camp while recovering from COVID-19, put in the Game 4 performance on the second night of a back-to-back. The Hawks also blocked 21 shots.
Defenseman Olli Maatta continued to come through for the Hawks, assisting on Caggiula's goal a night after his Game 3 goal for six points this postseason. He's plus-six, highest on the team.
The same can be said about playoff newcomer Highmore, who tied Maatta for third on the team with his third goal of the postseason.
Crawford last made 46 stops in a playoff game during an overtime loss to the Nashville Predators on April 17, 2017.
The Hawks handed former teammate Robin Lehner his first loss since the Hawks traded the goalie to Vegas in February.
Game 5 is Tuesday.
