Blackhawks recall F Phillip Danault

Nov. 21--CALGARY, Alberta -- A new face has joined the Chicago Blackhawks as they continue their six-game road trip.

The Hawks recalled forward Phillip Danault on Friday and the rookie will be added to the mix with the team set to practice in Edmonton, Alberta, later in the day.

The move is likely due to the upper-body injury to Andrew Shaw that kept the forward out of the Hawks' 4-3 victory over the Calgary Flames on Thursday night.

In addition, the Hawks placed winger Patrick Sharp on the long-term injury list. Coach Joel Quenneville said Sharp, who injured his right knee Nov. 4 against the Montreal Canadiens, would begin skating soon. The move to the injured list likely won't impact that timeline.

The 21-year-old Danault had three goals and seven assists in 14 games with the IceHogs this season. He was one of the Hawks' first-round selections (26th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft.

On Thursday, Hawks general manager Stan Bowman spoke glowingly of Danault's development in Rockford. "I talked to Phillip Danault about a month ago," Bowman said. "He said it wasn't until the end of last year where he felt comfortable (playing in the AHL). You can see the difference. He's been dynamite for us this year, a totally different player."
