Blackhawks' new top line hopes chemistry starts crackling soon

March 14--The Blackhawks' revamped top line of center Jonathan Toews and wingers Marian Hossa and Andrew Ladd made its debut in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Stars. It wasn't exactly a blockbuster opening, considering the Stars dominated in all facets.

But it was at least a start for the three to get comfortable playing alongside one another.

"Hopefully the chemistry will kick in soon," Hossa said. "We had some good looks and obviously they didn't end up where we wanted to, but (Monday) is another day and we're looking forward to having a strong game."

Toews said he could see potential in the line and thinks the offensive output should increase soon.

"We had some good shifts," he said. "We'll build off that where we get that confidence, and we can have a better idea where guys are going to be supporting the puck area.

"Plays happen really fast and there's always going to be a little bit of an adjustment, so we saw that the other night. The offense didn't necessarily come, but we know it will once we start having more puck possession."

Rozsival questionable: Defenseman Michal Rozsival missed practice Sunday, but coach Joel Quenneville did not rule him out of Monday's game against the Kings. Rozsival missed Friday's game because of a lower-body injury.

Quenneville said the Hawks will evaluate Rozsival's status after their morning skate Monday.

Practice update: Defenseman Duncan Keith did not practice Sunday but is fine and will play Monday, Quenneville said. Center Artem Anisimov did not play for most of the third period against the Stars but practiced in full and is expected to play Monday.

Even though the line of left wing Tomas Fleischmann, center Teuvo Teravainen and right wing Dale Weise generated two goals Friday, Quenneville broke it up Sunday. Andrew Desjardins was on the left wing with Teravainen at center and Fleischmann on the right. Weise played right wing on the fourth line with Andrew Shaw at center and Brandon Mashinter on the left wing.
