Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford still out 'indefinitely'

CHICAGO _ Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville was definite about one thing Friday: Injured goalie Corey Crawford will be out "indefinitely."

Quenneville would not speculate on a timetable for Crawford to return from an upper-body injury that landed him on injured reserve Dec. 27. Quenneville's words Friday matched what he said a day after Crawford was put on IR, when he speculated Crawford would be "out for a little bit."

Crawford hasn't played since he was pulled after giving up three goals on seven shots in the first period of a 4-1 loss to the Devils on Dec. 23. His 2.27 goals-against average and .929 save percentage are among the best in the NHL.

Quenneville said center Artem Anisimov, also on IR with an upper-body injury, is "more day to day right now" and that he was "closer to skating."

He said he would know more when both return to the ice. Anisimov, who hasn't played since Dec. 28, was second on the team with 13 goals going into Friday. His six game-winners were tied for second in the league with teammate Brandon Saad.

Quenneville refused to speculate on what might happen with the backup goalie situation once Crawford returns.

Jeff Glass started his fourth straight game Friday against the Golden Knights since he was called up from Rockford, returning Anton Forsberg to the backup role after he started the first game Crawford missed.

"We're in the short-term business," Quenneville said. "We have to win that next game. That's how we look at the goaltending decision.

"I don't even want to look any further than that. We said, 'Let's give (Glass) a chance to win one game.' He gave us a boost. A real emotional team win for us, and he continued on with two strong games."
