CHICAGO _ Two straight shutouts earned Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford a rare start in the second game of a back-to-back Sunday against the Canadiens.
But the game, along with a couple of streaks, ended with the visitor's 2-0 victory at the United Center.
Crawford stopped all 59 shots he faced in victories against the Flyers and Wild, the latter of which was 2-0 on Sunday night.
That steak stretched to 77 shots, eight-plus periods and 178 minutes, 9 seconds before Jonathan Drouin beat Crawford over his right shoulder 1 minute, 54 seconds into the third period. A little more than six minutes later, Joe Morrow made it 2-0 on the Canadiens' next shot on goal.
The Blackhawks had 38 of their own, but Canadiens goalie Charlie Lindgren, playing his fourth NHL game, stopped all of them for his first career shutout. Starter Carey Price was out with an lower-body injury. Lindgren improved to 4-0-0.
Jonathan Toews hit the post just over two minutes into the second. Two minutes later, Brandon Saad's body beat the puck into the net, taking Lindgren, Saad and the net for a slide on the ice.
The Hawks have scored just three goals in their last three games, minus two empty-netters.
