March 31--Scott Darling got the call in goal for the Chicago Blackhawks when they faced the Los Angeles Kings in a game crucial to the postseason positioning for both teams.
The Lemont native started in place of Corey Crawford as the Hawks played the second of back-to-back games Monday night at the United Center.
"When we looked at our schedule that was what we were looking at," Hawks coach Joel Quenneville said of giving Darling the start. "We've got a busy three-in-four (days) set and not too many back-to-backs. (So) when we looked at our month, it's kind of the way we had it budgeted, and it's worked out that way."
Darling was opposed by Jonathan Quick for the Kings.
The quote
"This is a big one. If we can win this and go two-for-two on the back-to-backs that will kind of was the pain of last week a little bit." -- Hawks center Brad Richards
