VANCOUVER, British Columbia_After a furious comeback in the third period, the Chicago Blackhawks erased a three-goal deficit to send their game against the Vancouver Canucks to overtime.
In a bonkers extra session, Marian Hossa scored his second game-winning goal in as many nights to give the Hawks a 4-3 victory.
Hossa scored 4 minutes, 4 seconds into the extra session.
The Hawks had appeared to win the game 31 seconds into overtime when Jonathan Toews scored past Jacob Markstrom. Players were leaving the ice and the Hawks were celebrating, but a review from the replay center from Toronto said the Hawks were offsides, keeping the game going.
Then the overtime went crazy. Scott Darling made multiple outstanding saves to keep the Hawks in it while Patrick Kane was stopped on a breakaway, a rare sight. But the Hawks ended up winning anyway.
The Canucks got the first goal against the resurgent Hawks' penalty kill after defenseman Michal Rozsival was sent off for a hooking penalty.
Winger Loui Eriksson sent home a slick backhand past Scott Darling following a rebound off a shot from Sven Baertschi at 13:49.
The Hawks had seven shots on goal in the period but mounted few serious threats.
The Hawks lost control of the game rather quickly late in the second period with a shorthanded goal taking the wind out of their sails.
The sequence began when Jonathan Toews lost the puck to Alexandre Burrows in the Hawks zone. Burrows got off a pass to Bo Horvat, who outraced Brian Campbell for a breakaway and scored on Darling to make it 2-0 at 17:03
Then just a few moments later at 18:27, defenseman Michal Kempny could not handle a bouncing puck in the Hawks zone. Henrik Sedin got a hold of it and passed it to Brandon Sutter on a 2-on-1 and Sutter buried the chance. The Hawks had just four shots on goal for the period.
But the Hawks made things interesting _ quickly _ in the third. Just after a power play expired, Kane slid a pass to Artemi Panarin, who one-timed home a shot just 2:53 into the third period.
Then at 4:03, Vincent Hinostroza made a heady individual play following his own shot to score on Markstrom at 4:06. It was Hinostroza's first NHL goal.
The Hawks completed their comeback at 15:46 when Hinostroza set up Ryan Hartman for a one-time goal from the slot.
Tyler Motte and Hinostroza returned from injuries to play Saturday. Motte played in his first game since suffering a left leg injury Nov. 6. Hinostroza played after suffering a concussion against the Jets on Tuesday.
Rozsival drew into the lineup and played just his fifth game of the season. In addition to Gustav Forsling the scratches were Andrew Desjardins and Jordin Tootoo.
