Blackhawks' Brent Seabrook tells team he is not willing to waive his no-movement clause: report

According to a report, Brent Seabrook has told the Blackhawks he would not be willing to waive his no-movement clause.

TSN's Elliotte Friedman said the Hawks approached Seabrook recently but the 33-year-old defenseman said he "loves being a Blackhawk" and would not accept a trade.

The Hawks declined a Tribune request for comment.

Seabrook, whose 1,056 games are the second-most in Hawks history behind Stan Mikita, declined to answer last month when he was asked if he would be willing to waive his no-movement clause if the Hawks asked.

Any deal involving Seabrook would be a difficult one to pull off due to his age, declining skills but mainly because of a contract that still has five seasons left with a $6.875 million cap hit.

Seabrook has five goals and 15 assists in 52 games this season and is averaging a career-low 19 minutes, 45 seconds per game.
