Blackhawks brawl with Blues in a 2-0 loss after Adam Boqvist gets flattened by an elbow to the head

CHICAGO _ The Blackhawks lost 2-0 to the Blues on Sunday night at the United Center, the first time in franchise history the Hawks have been swept by their Central Division rivals.

At least the Hawks showed some fight _ literally.

A scrum broke out after Blues center Oskar Sundqvist elbowed Adam Boqvist in the head and Boqvist lay face down on the ice. Drake Caggiula traded punches with Vince Dunn, who's listed as 2 inches taller and 27 pounds heavier, before officials broke it up.

Caggiula threw his arms up as he left the ice and the United Center crowd cheered with appreciation, but it can't be a scenario the Hawks want to see for Caggiula or Boqvist.

Caggiula had two concussions less than a year apart and talked in December about discussing retirement with his family and agent. Boqvist just returned to the ice after missing Friday's game against the Red Wings with a wrist injury.

The Hawks have had trouble keeping defensemen healthy, and they have enough problems elsewhere on the ice.

They couldn't cash in on any of four power plays in the second period.

Corey Crawford made 21 saves but couldn't stop Robert Bortuzzo's sharp-angle, top-shelf shot from the bottom of the left circle on an assist from Brayden Schenn and Jaden Schwartz.

Alex Pietrangelo followed with a third-period goal that started with a Schenn takeaway in the Hawksdefensive zone.

Hawks coach Jeremy Colliton pulled the goalie with about three minutes to play.
