Blackburn United and Broxburn Athletic receive SFA full membership licence

Blackburn United and Broxburn Athletic have become full Scottish Football Association members after both clubs had licence applications accepted.

It means that both teams will be competing in the Scottish Cup from next season – and will allow them to progress up the pyramid from Tier 6. The licences are expected to be formally issued at the next SFA AGM, scheduled for June 12.

Both clubs made the move from Junior football to senior ranks last summer and will be competing in the East of Scotland Premier League next term.

Athletic fell at the final hurdle on Saturday in their bid to be crowned East of Scotland League champions and seal promotion to the Lowland League.
