Blackburn Rovers sign Leeds United promotion winner ahead of Nottingham Forest game

Blackburn Rovers have signed Leeds United defender Barry Douglas on a season-long loan ahead of facing Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Watford were also said to be keen on the 31-year-old but he has opted for a move to Ewood Park and is set to face Forest in what will be Chris Hughton's first game in charge.

Douglas comes with excellent recent experience in the Championship, part of the Wolves squad which clinched promotion to the Premier League in 2018, and after moving to Leeds in that summer, he played 15 times in their promotion campaign of 2019/20, including the Ewood Park fixture in July.

Amari’i Bell has played every minute of Rovers’ six competitive fixtures this season, but Rovers have added another option in that position.

Rovers boss Tony Mowbray has confirmed that he hopes to add up to three signings before facing Forest.

“We’re always trying to do business, , but a phone call is a phone call, and then there’s another phone call later,” the manager told the Lancashire Telegraph.

“I would hope that we could get a minimum of two, maybe three, in if we can.

“We’re working hard behind the scenes to bolster the squad.”

Thomas Kaminski, Adonis Stergiakis, Daniel Ayala and Tyrhys Dolan to their ranks in the window which closes at 5pm tomorrow.
