Blackburn Rovers rumoured to have approach Leeds United with loan offer for Crysencio Summerville

Blackburn want to sign Leeds youngster Crysencio Summerville on loan until the end of the season according to reports.

Reporter Pete O’Rourke claims Rovers want the Dutch U-21 international to replace Ian Poveda, who was on loan from Leeds but has his stint cut short due to an ankle injury.

Summerville is a highly-rated prospect at Elland Road and Marcelo Bielsa handed him his debut against Newcastle at St James’ Park back in September.

The 20-year-old winger last featured for Leeds in their 4-1 defeat to Arsenal last month and a loan move would allow him to gain valuable first-team experience.

Summerville has represented the Netherlands at every level since U-16 and his switch from Feyenoord on a free transfer was seen as a huge coup back in 2020.

Leeds are currently battling an injury crisis of their own, however, which could disrupt Blackburn’s winter window plans.

Patrick Bamford is only just returning to full fitness after an injury-ravaged start to the campaign while the Whites have been dealt two fresh blows ahead of their trip to West Ham, with Joe Gelhardt and Tyler Roberts ruled out for several weeks.

This could force Bielsa to rethink green-lighting a Summerville loan and present the youngster with the perfect opportunity to make a statement in the first team.
