Blackburn Rovers injury news ahead of Bristol City game with three players set to miss out

Three Blackburn Rovers players are set to miss Bristol City's trip to Ewood Park on Saturday (June 20) as the Championship starts once again.

The Robins kick off their play-off push in Lancashire on Saturday and will look to start their final nine games with three points ahead of a vital final few weeks in the league.

City currently sit one point off the play-offs in seventh behind Preston North End, just two points ahead of Blackburn in 10th.

A win for Rovers will see them overtake City but with five points separating sixth and 12th the battle for the play-offs will surely go down to the wire.

The Robins have been handed a boost ahead of the game, with three Blackburn players set to miss out.

LancsLive report that left-backs Amari'i Bell and Derrick Williams will both likely be ruled out through injury, having missed their recent friendly against Liverpool and an intra-squad friendly.

They were not risked against Liverpool after the latter felt something in his calf, while Bell took a knock in training.

Joe Rankin-Costello and Stewart Downing will both be in line to start at left-back, while midfielder John Buckley will miss the game through suspension after being sent off against Derby County before football's suspension.

Lee Johnson's only potential concerns are with Nahki Wells and Andi Weiamnn, both of whom missed the recent friendly against Southampton.

However, Wells and Weimann have both been seen in training videos and Lee Johnson will likely give updates on both of their conditions during his pre-match media conference on Wednesday.

The biggest boost for Johnson will be the return of Benik Afobe, who played 60 minutes during the Saints friendly.

It's impossible to assess both club's form seeing as the last games were played in February, however both sides have partaken in friendly matches against Premier League sides and squad friendlies, with Bristol City playing a game at Ashton Gate today (June 16).
