Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper's loan move to Hamilton Accies in doubt after transfer embargo

Joe Hilton's proposed loan move from Blackburn Rovers to Hamilton Accies is in jeopardy due to the English side's transfer ban.

Lanarkshire Live Sport understands that the 21-year-old has been training with Accies and that a deal was close to being announced before complications with Rovers.

Blackburn are under a transfer ban after failing to submit their annual accounts for the year leading to March 30 with the submission deadline of Wednesday, June 30 approaching.

The English Championship side offered Hilton a new two-year contract but it's understood that the deal has not been ratified by the English FA which has caused a delay in his loan move to Hamilton.

The former Manchester City and Everton remains with Brian Rice's side and although Hamilton are hopeful of completing a deal, any announcement is being held up by the uncertainty surrounding Rovers' transfer embargo.

Hilton was set to be Accies' number one ahead of the new season with Ryan Fulton still recovering from injury and Kyle Gourlay departing at the end of his contract to join Cove Rangers.

The Englishman spent time on loan at Ross County last season but he failed to make a first-team appearance.
