Blackburn Rovers expect to face a fired up Nottingham Forest after play-off disappointment

Tony Mowbray says Blackburn Rovers will face a fired up Nottingham Forest side which is hurting after seeing their play-off push derailed.

The Reds lost to Rotherham and Sheffield Wednesday in their last two outings to leave them eight points off the top six with five games to go.

Rovers boss Mowbray says opposite number Martin O'Neill and his assistant Roy Keane will be demanding a response at the City Ground this afternoon.

Former Nottingham Forest defender's big regret at turning down Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa after City Ground exit

"Forest will be hurting from a defeat in their last game and we all know how difficult it is to go to the City Ground," Mowbray said.

"Normally there's 30,000 people there, it's all very red and noisy.

"Knowing Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane, they will have their team really wound up for this, as an opportunity at home.

"I think their home record since Martin has been there has been pretty solid.

"So it's a tough game for us - one that we know we're going to have to be at our best in order to get a result.

Blackburn are in 16th, but with 50 points on the board their Championship place is effectively secure for another season.

They will be looking to make it two wins in a row at the City Ground having won 1-0 there in 2017.

"Two years ago we went there and got a positive result, so we should go there in a positive frame of mind and try to get another positive result," Mowbray said.
