Blackburn boss makes eye-catching Nottingham Forest comment as Reds pressure grows

Blackburn Rovers boss Tony Mowbray said he doesn't "really recognise" Nottingham Forest after leading his side to victory at the City Ground.

Rovers secured a 2-1 win on a frustrating night for Forest boss Chris Hughton, who came under fire from Reds fans as they slipped to a third successive defeat.

Chants of 'you don't know what you're doing' rang out from some fans in the second half and there were boos at both half-time and the final whistle.

Frustration is growing at the club's start to the season while a lack of signings is also causing unrest with Forest having made just three additions so far this window.

The club have looked to reduce the average age of their squad over the summer, with the likes of Jordan Gabriel and Brennan Johnson elevated to the first team while more experienced professionals have left.

And speaking in the aftermath of their success against Forest, Mowbray told the Athletic: “I don’t really recognise this Forest side.

"This is not the team we saw here last season. This was not a team full of experience; it was a team full of youth."

Forest's next assignment also looks a difficult one on paper with the Reds facing an in-form Stoke City, who have made an excellent start to the campaign.

And the Reds' problems have deepened in terms of full-back options with Arsenal loanee Jordi Osei-Tutu destined for a spell on the sidelines after he limped out of Wednesday's defeat with a hamstring problem.

Gabriel was also sent off late on against Blackburn, meaning he will serve a suspension while Gaetan Bong is also banned for the clash against Michael O' Neill's side, which takes place at the bet365 Stadium at 3pm on Saturday.
