Blackadders names Glasgow-based partner as new chairman

Law firm Blackadders has announced that Peter Duff will succeed Scott Williamson as chairman.

Duff has been a partner since the Dundee-headquartered firm acquired Morisons' Glasgow business in 2019. He has expertise in corporate and commercial law and will focus on strategy and development.

Dundee-based Williamson has been in the role for four years, having taken over from Sandy Meiklejohn when he retired after 42 years with the company. Williamson will continue to work for Blackadders as a consultant.

Johnston Clark has been re-elected for the seventh time as managing partner, a position he has held since 2000. He was awarded Managing Partner of the Year at the Scottish Legal Awards in 2019.

Clark said: “I am looking forward to working closely with our new chairman and the rest of the management board. It is a challenging time for the legal profession with new working practices having been forced upon us but it is also a time of opportunities and I am confident we can drive the firm into an exciting new era."

Blackadders has also announced the promotion of HR manager Jane Millar to director of HR and facilities. She will oversee facilities management, learning & development and health & safety.
