Blackadder star Tony Robinson quits Labour after 45 years

Actor and comedian Tony Robinson announced today he was quitting the Labour Party after more than 44 years.

The former Bristol resident blamed Jeremy Corbyn's leadership,  anti-Semitism in the party and its 'duplicity on Brexit' on his shock move.

Earlier this year, the 72-year-old said he feared Labour had been 'completely taken over by and for a Leftist clique' after a long-standing member of the NEC was replaced by a Corbyn ally.

Famed for his ten-year stint on archaeology programme Time Team, Tony told his 90,000  followers on Twitter he believed the party' leader was 'Sh*t.

And many took to social media, to say they agreed.

One fan wrote: "It’s so sad when we come to the realisation that it’s not a place for us anymore. I feel your pain, Tony. Huge part of our identity - gone."

While another tweeted: "I left labour when Corbyn was re-elected because I knew Labour lost control to Marxists who are superglued in to leadership. I joined the Libdems in 2016 and last night we won control of Cotswold District Council."

And one person wrote: "Wow huge loss to labour from a man who has done so much for it over the years..but totally understandable."
