Scarlett Johansson says she was as surprised as everybody else when the trailer for Black Widow came out.

The actor told Stephen Colbert on his show that she wasn’t aware that the trailer would be unveiled earlier this week.

She said it was her Marvel co-star Chris Evans (who portrays Captain America in the Avengers franchise) who alerted her to the release.

“Nobody told me that it was coming out. I actually woke up and I got a text message from Chris Evans and he was like, ‘The trailer looks great',” she said.

Johansson added jokingly: “I was also as excited as everybody else. I had no idea it was coming out. They didn’t tell me. They keep everything for me.”

Black Widow, the first standalone film dedicated to Johansson’s character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will be released on 1 May, 2020.

The movie stars Stranger Things star David Harbour, Florence Pugh and Rachel Weisz.

Robert Downey Jr will reportedly appear as Tony Stark/Iron Man in the prequel film.
