Black Widow delayed? Marvel expected to cancel film release because of coronavirus

Marvel fans are questioning whether Disney will cancel the scheduled release of Black Widow amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The studio has announced that both its live-action remake of Mulan and The New Mutants will be delayed.

Horror film Antlers, which was acquired following the merger with Fox, has also been postponed indefinitely.

In a statement, a Disney spokesperson said: “As you know this has been a rapidly evolving situation and I wanted to make you aware that we are postponing the releases of Mulan, The New Mutants, and Antlers out of an abundance of caution.

“We truly believe in the movie-going experience, and we are looking at new potential 2020 release dates to be announced at a later date.”

This news is leading film fans to speculate that its next big Marvel release, the prequel Black Widow, will also have its release moved to another time.

Other high-profile films to have had their releases shifted include Bond film No Time to Die, A Quiet Place II and Fast & Furious 9, which will now be released in 2021.

At the time of writing, Black Widow is due to be released on 1 May – just two weeks after Antlers.
