Black Widow dead: Catherine Nevin who paid hitman to murder her husband dies aged 67

Catherine Nevin, the so-called "black widow" who was jailed for orchestrating her husband's killing, has died in a Dublin hospice, it has been reported.

She was convicted in 2000 of murdering Thomas Nevin at Jack White's Inn, a pub the couple owned.

She was also found guilty on three charges of soliciting others to kill him.

The jury deliberated for five days before reaching their decision, which was then the longest period in the history of Ireland.

In 2016, she was diagnosed with a brain tumour and given only months to live.

Last September, she was released from prison to live the remainder of her days in a nursing home.

A source told the Irish Sun she passed away on Monday night at the age of 67 after having "been unwell for quite a number of months."

“She was out of prison for a number of months, between hospital and respite care.”

Nevin had always denied any involvement in her husband's murder and refused to name the gunman involved.
