'Black substance' on cars, street dealer jailed and Ava White investigation update

'Scumbags' pour 'black substance' over cars in overnight spree

Multiple cars in one part of Merseyside were damaged after a "black substance" was poured over them.

People living in the Marshside area of Southport found their cars damaged after being covered in the "black tar-like substance", in attacks which police believe happened overnight between Saturday, December 11 and Sunday, December 12.

Speaking to the ECHO, one resident said she found her car damaged on Sunday morning after her next door neighbour knocked and told her.

She said the substance looked like "black tar" which appeared to have been "thrown " on the car's bonnet.

Street dealer caught with £3,000 of crack and heroin

Michael Shawcross was jailed for drug offences (Cheshire Police)

A 38-year-old man who was caught with thousands of pounds worth of crack and heroin has been jailed.

Michael Shawcross, 38, of Tennyson Street, Bootle, was arrested when Cheshire Police raided an address on Cartwright Street in Warrington.

Detective Sergeant Tom Hall said: “This is a great result and sees another drug dealer off the streets of Warrington.

“This investigation is part of an ongoing crackdown on county lines drug dealing in the town and hope that it acts as a warning to criminals who think that they can target our area with illegal activity."

Update on three boys questioned on suspicion of murder in Ava White investigation

Tributes for Ava White. (Liverpool Echo)

Three boys questioned on suspicion of murder following the death of Ava White remain on bail as the investigation continues.

The teenagers, aged 13, 14 and 15, were released last month, three days after their arrest.

Ava died after being stabbed in Liverpool city centre on the night of Thursday, November 25.

She had been watching the Christmas lights being switched on with friends.
