Black Stripe Alert: Ohio State defensive tackle Jacolbe Cowan becomes first of 2021 to lose black stripe

We usually give these to you in summer camp, but one Ohio State defensive lineman has already begun impressing coaches. Former four-star recruit, Jacolbe Cowan of Charlotte, North Carolina became the first to lose his black stripe and become an official Buckeye on Friday.

Cowan was the No. 17 rated defensive tackle in the 2020 recruiting class, however missed the entire 2020 season with an undisclosed injury. Coming in at 6-feet, 5-inches, and 260-pounds, Cowan led his high school, Providence Day to a state championship his senior year.

“First and foremost, I want to give a thank you to God. Without Him I wouldn’t be able to be in this position. Just from my time being out, I just learned in life you’re going to face obsticles. I already faced a lot of obsticles. It’s all about how you perservere through those obsticles.  I love y’all boys. The reason I came here is because of the brotherhood. Y’all ain’t show me nothing but love ever since I’ve been here. So I appreciate y’all. Go Bucks!” Cowan said

What a great message about fighting through adversity to get where you want to be. Watch Cowan talk to his teammates as he received the honor.
