Black Panther stars join Chadwick Boseman’s wife and family at private memorial

Family, friends and co-stars gathered in Malibu on Sunday to bid goodbye to Chadwick Boseman following his tragic passing after the star lost his secret battle against cancer.

The Black Panther star was just 43 when he died last month following a four year battle against colon cancer which he kept secret from his co-stars and fans.

Marvel performers including Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan, and Winston Duke were among those joining the actor's family at a private ceremony in Malibu, California, over the weekend.

Chadwick’s grieving wife, singer Taylor Simone Ledward, was also at the ceremony which took place outdoors in glorious sunshine.

Details of the memorial ceremony have been reported to include a table display featuring a photograph of the late actor.

Flowers were also said to be arranged around tables at the memorial site which was overlooking the ocean.

While photographs from the private event showed Chadwick's wife being comforted by his co-stars.

Pagesix reports: “Music from a hang drum was also part of the service.”

The entertainment world was left in shock on 28 August when news broke of Chadwick’s death.

A statement was released by his family via his social media accounts in which it was revealed he had lost a long battle against ill health.

The statement revealed: “Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV. ⁣

⁣”A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much.

“From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.”

Co-stars, musicians, directors and politicians were among high profile stars to share shock, grief and tributes in the wake of the tragic news.

While news last week revealed that Disney had put plans for a Black Panther sequel on ice following the sad news of Chadwick's death.
