Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's beta begins next weekend, but Activision just dropped the trailer for the first look at multiplayer gameplay this morning, and it sure looks like CoD.
CoD gamers will surely be dissecting the footage over the next few days, but the main takeaway from the footage is the addition of a feature called Overclocks that allows you to upgrade and level up different types of gear, including scorestreaks, throwables, and field upgrades.

Gameplay-wise, the footage gives me vibes of a combination between Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 2, which makes sense since BO7 is a direct sequel to the latter. And for my money, BO2 is the best game in the franchise, so that alone gives me reason for excitement.
The weapons and gunplay look similar to BO2, while the movement is definitely an evolution of BO6's omnimovement. This combination could make for some genuine fun in the franchise, along with the near-future tech on display like drones, quadruped tanks, and even the Juggernaut-like bipedal bot that is one of the top scorestreaks in the game.
Next week on Oct. 30, Activision hosts Call of Duty Next, a live-streamed showcase of all things BO7, Warzone, and CoD Mobile. The beta for BO7 begins on Oct. 2 for those who pre-ordered, so the chance to actually play the next CoD is right around the corner.
A full deep-dive blog from Activision detailed a ton of new information about multiplayer alongside the trailer, including a full list of weapons and other options coming to the game when it launches on Nov. 14.
