The first look at Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's Zombies offering just dropped, and it's got gamers fiending for more.
Activision today revealed the cinematic for Ashes of the Damned, the first map coming to BO7's co-op mode, showcasing the storyline that picks up right where the final Black Ops 6 Zombies map finished off at the top of Janus Towers.

BO6's Zombies crew of Weaver, Carver, Maya, and Grey will join forces with the old WWII-era squad of Richtofen, Dempsey, Takeo, and Nikolai in Ashes of the Damned, the first of several eventual additional maps confirmed for BO7.
"After a tumultuous battle high atop of Janus Towers, celebrations are abruptly short-lived as Grigori Weaver, Dr. Elizabeth Grey, Major Mackenzie ‘Mac’ Carver, and Maya Aguinaldo are thrust into the Dark Aether dimension," Activision explained. "The crew don’t even have the time to pick themselves up from the ground before they’re startled by the arrival of a welcoming committee."
The welcoming committee in question seems to include a new character, a mysterious cowboy with a southern accent that uses a pair of totem skulls within cages to "expunge life force from the assembled crew, sucking essence into its maw while sharing its meal with its master, seemingly granting the mysterious figure more than a taste of their souls." Whoa.
Unfortunately, this is all that Treyarch had to show off for Zombies today, but the full reveal of BO7's Zombies mode is coming sometime next week via a massive blog post that will detail "extensive gameplay, systems, enemies, and feature content" coming to the game.
For all of BO6's faults, its Zombies maps and offerings added as free post-launch content were a highlight for me. I'm not the most dedicated Zombies player anymore, and I have zero clue what's actually going on with the story and how the two crews are coming together, but Treyarch's dedication to the mode brings hope for those who can't get enough.
Black Ops 7 launches on Nov. 14.
