Black Ops 7 patch notes for launch: Weapon buffs and nerfs, map changes, more

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is on the horizon, and Treyarch has unveiled the day-one Black Ops 7 patch notes highlighting the improvements made since the beta last month.

Set to release worldwide on Nov. 14, the latest Call of Duty installment brings a host of updates to weapons, maps, and gameplay, ensuring a balanced and smooth experience at launch.

Here’s a complete breakdown of the BO7 patch notes for launch day.

Aim assist and movement changes in Black Ops 7 patch notes for launch

Rotational aim assist has been refined for better balance and precision. The range for full assist strength has been extended, and long-range assist slightly increased. A key change is the new right-stick requirement, with the full rotational aim assist now only activated when your right stick tracks an enemy target. If only the left stick is used, assist strength will be reduced.

These aim assist updates, first discussed after the BO7 beta, will launch with Multiplayer and arrive in Warzone during season one.

Movement has also received several updates to make gameplay feel smoother and more responsive. Mantling has been adjusted to allow for faster and more consistent transitions over obstacles.

An issue causing players to dive when moving slower than intended has been fixed, ensuring more predictable control during engagements. Additionally, slide acceleration, speed, and duration have been slightly reduced to create a more balanced and tactical movement flow.

In the BO7 patch notes, most weapon classes have received slight increases to jump penalties for ADS and sprint-to-fire, aimed at balancing the new Wall Jump mechanic, particularly since ADS while wall jumping is now a baseline feature. With more attachment options available to reduce these penalties, including notable boosts from certain Prestige attachments, players can now customize loadouts for agile, combat-focused movement.

ARs

Assault rifles have been tuned to balance performance across engagements. Increased jump ADS and jump sprint-to-fire penalties slightly reduce the effectiveness of airborne combat, promoting more grounded and tactical play.

The Tactical Laser’s mobility bonus has been reduced, and specific nerfs have been applied to the M15 Mod 0, MXR-17, and Peacekeeper Mk, along with several of their attachments.

SMGs

Submachine guns have been rebalanced to reinforce their role as close-quarters weapons. Their effective range has been reduced, with some range potential shifted into barrel attachments. Jump ADS and jump sprint-to-fire penalties have been increased to make aerial engagements less forgiving, and an issue with ADS firing motion while modifying the recoil stabilization stat has been fixed. Tac stance ADS speed improvements have been slightly reduced.

Specific adjustments have been applied to the Ryden 45K, Razor 9mm, and Dravec 45, together with select attachments.

Shotguns

Shotguns received a major overhaul for more consistent and controllable damage, now featuring pellet damage (applied per pellet) and base damage (applied once per shot). Slug rounds have been improved for mid-range viability, and sprinting hip-fire spread with the Gung-Ho Perk has been increased to emphasize risk-reward.

General updates include higher jump ADS and sprint-to-fire penalties, reduced slug muzzle flash, and boosted lower leg and foot multipliers. The Tactical Laser attachment’s tac stance ADS speed improvement has also been reduced. All shotguns at launch, namely the M10 Breacher, Echo 12, and Akita, have received weapon-specific stats and attachment updates.

LMGs and marksman rifles

Light machine guns and marksman rifles have been adjusted for balanced handling, with increased jump ADS and sprint-to-fire penalties slightly reducing airborne accuracy. The Tactical Laser’s tac stance ADS bonus has been reduced, and the MK.78 LMG and M8A1 marksman rifle received targeted attachment updates.

Sniper rifles

The VS Recon has received further improved rechamber stability from beta and multiple attachment adjustments. The XR-3 Ion has also received several attachment updates.

Pistols and launchers

The Jager 45 and Coda 9 pistols have been updated with multiple attachment adjustments. Launchers have been refined for smoother handling and better accuracy, with the A.R.C. M1 receiving targeted fixes to improve consistency.

Several map and mode updates have been included in the Black Ops 7 patch notes to improve clarity and flow. On Exposure, spawn points have been updated, some Hardpoint zones slightly expanded, and Overload zones moved closer to the map ends. Domination A zone has been adjusted for minimap clarity, and new Search and Destroy bomb sites have been added. On Imprint, the Inclinator button prompt text has been clarified. The Forge has updated starting objective device locations for Overload, while Cortex has spawns and objective positions polished across all modes.

Overload mode adjustments include device reset timers reduced from 60 to 15 seconds, UI and visual improvements for clarity, new and updated medals, and general bug fixes.

Some perks have been combined to create more meaningful choices, including Gearhead, Quartermaster, Assassin, Close Shave, Bruiser, Engineer, Shadow, Tracker and Hunter’s Instinct. Meanwhile, Vigilance now has increased minimap visibility, Charge Link and Blast Link have assist radius slightly increased, and Tactician Combat Speciality has elimination score boosted.

Equipment updates include Needle Drone now eliminating enemies on direct impact with a larger HUD warning radius, Sensor Grenades improved for more reliable tagging, and EMP Grenade HUD scramble duration reduced. Field upgrades have faster charge times. Drone Pod eliminations now award full score, Squad Link duration and area reduced with a limit of one deployed at a time, and Trophy Systems can no longer be deployed underwater.

Scorestreaks improvements include clearer earn and ready state messaging, adjusted health, hits-to-kill, and score costs, and updated Overclock descriptions, with targeted adjustments to D.A.W.G., Sentry Turret, Skewer, Rhino, and Hellstorm.

Finally, audio improvements removed the guitar riff SFX that played when killing or being killed by a Nemesis in the beta.

Several adjustments have been made to the Vendon Farm Survival map to improve gameplay flow. Chompy no longer rewards salvage when refusing a weapon, and overall Salvage rewards have been reduced. The Saw Blade Trap cost has been increased with a slightly smaller attraction radius, and trap kills no longer drop loot. T.E.D.D. Tasks have been added to spawn across the map.

A general fix to weapons has addressed an issue that severely reduced bullet penetration, ensuring damage is now applied more effectively. Legendary and Pack-a-Punch III damage multipliers for ARs, SMGs, marksman rifles, and shotguns have been slightly increased to support a viable economy loop with Augments. Pack-a-Punched SMGs now have a short-range damage buff.

Weapon-specific changes have been made to the MXR-17 Pack-a-Punched version, A.R.C. M1, Flatline MK.II (both base and Pack-a-Punched), and Dravec 45 Pack-a-Punch variant.

An issue where zombies struggled to attack the ARC-XD has been fixed. Meanwhile, the Exfil Vote widget now clearly explains the updated system. Players can opt-in to an exfil initiated by another player, leaving the match immediately, while those who opt out remain until they choose to exfil later or are eliminated.
