Black Mirror season 5 episode 1 release date and title 'leaked' by Netflix

The return date ofBlack Mirror may have just been accidentally leaked by Netflix.

Word has been quiet on the forthcoming batch of episodes that have been filmed throughout the year, with episode titles and attached talent also kept under wraps.

An official Twitter account linked to the streaming service seems to have tipped off fans when to expect Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones’s anthology series to return – and it’s before the end of the year.

The tweet, which has now been deleted, was of a photo showing release dates of several high-profile releases on Netflix. Black Mirror featured alongside the date of 28 December with an episode titled “Bandersnatch” which, going by the below tweet, seems to have been the one filmed in Croydon earlier this year.

Black Mirror’s fifth season is expected to run for six episodes – it’s unknown whether the fact a single episode is named means that all will be released in one go or if Netflix has decided to stagger outings in an attempt to give each one room to breathe.

The new season will reportedly feature a "choose-your-own-adventure" episode whereby fans can interactively dictate its events.

Last year’s season featured episodes “USS Callister” and “Black Museum,” the former of which added to the show's Emmy trophy count.
