Black Mirror is back as Netflix airs trailer for series five starring Miley Cyrus

Cult TV show Black Mirror is returning to our screens next month and Netflix has just released the full trailer for the upcoming series five.

Fans of recent BBC hit Fleabag will be thrilled to see its "hot priest" Andrew Scott starring in the fifth outing of Charlie Brooker's award-winning dystopian TV series.

Scott appears as someone unhinged by the effects technology on society who ends up going on a rampage that culminates in a shootout with police, reports TheMirror.

Meanwhile Marvel superhero Anthony Mackie will be starring alongside Aquaman star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in a period set episode.

Miley Cyrus becomes a purple-wigged avatar robot in what one fan has dubbed the "TikTok cosplayer" episode seemingly about fandom and the AI's of tomorrow.

Fans were excited to learn that the three-episode series will land on Netlix on June 5th.

The series also sees appearances from Spider-Man 3 actor Topher Grace, Nicole Beharie, Damson Idris, Pom Klementieff, Angourie Rice, Madison Davenport and Ludi Lin.

The tagline for series five reads: "Five Groundbreaking. Seasons. Three. All-New Stories. One Future.

"We Should Have Seen Coming..."

Popstar Miley confirmed she was appearing in the series back in December after her sister Brandi revealed she'd been staying with her during filming in South Africa.

During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show Miley confirmed the news in a roundabout way: "If you guess it, then I will shake my head ‘yes'.”

All of the episodes focus on technology which has been an ongoing thread in all five series and taps into the collective unease with the modern world and explores contemporary techno-paranoia.

Each stand-alone episode shows how technology can affect marriages, self-esteem, fame, social media and mental health in an unsettling future.

The series is created and written by Charlie Brooker, and executive produced by Brooker and Annabel Jones.
