Who: Black Eyed Peas
Where and when: Jazz World stage, 10.45pm
What happened: A little bit of everything, actually. In between their own songs, including newbies Rock That Body and Meet Me Halfway, the band played a medley which comprised of Estelle's American Boy, Kid Cudi's Day and Nite and Rihanna's Don't Stop The Music.
In between every song, BEP (as they like to be called) dropped a different Michael Jackson ditty, before Will.I.Am declared "Michael Jackson inspired me to be the person I am today". A moving sentiment, instantly dashed when you recall this is the man who wrote the lyrics "Mix your milk with my cocoa puff".
Despite the fact that Fergie's voice has rather a horrible tinge to its power, and that the verse tussles between her and Will.I.Am on Shut Up are about as engaging as hearing a couple bicker about which dishwasher tablets to buy, it's not hard to appreciate their worth at a huge, mainstream event like this. This is a party band who have heaps of energy and constantly holler over each other to keep the crowd in high spirits.
Who's watching: A surprising mix age-wise, but there are a lot of parents obliging their 10-year-olds' choice of headliner.
High point: Erm, when they played other people's music for about 15 minutes.
Low point: Where Is the Love – a grating, saccharine little song which marks the exact moment BEP went from dull but credible rap collective to resembling a band manufactured by a record executive who wanted to conquer as many markets as possible.
In a tweet: "We recorded our album right here in London, Glaston-berry". OK, Will.I.Am ...
