Black Country retail park fully let after Farmfoods deal

A shopping park in the Black Country is fully let after frozen food retailer Farmfoods agreed a lease deal.

The company has taken the last available space at Birchley Island Retail Park, in Oldbury, on a ten-year deal for a 20,600 sq ft warehouse.

The retailer is currently fitting out the new unit which it expects to open by the end of May.

Birchley Island Retail Park was opened a year ago following a redevelopment programme by Birmingham-based property group Hortons' Estate at the former Toys 'R' Us site, off Wolverhampton Road near the M5.

The multi-let retail park is already home to a JD Gyms, discount retailer B&M, a swimming pool, McDonald's and Tim Hortons drive-thru café.

Richard Walker, commercial surveyor at Hortons' Estate, said: "Farmfoods completes a strong occupier line-up at Birchley Island Retail Park and our successful transformation of the site."

Simon Smith, director of retail and leisure specialist with Wright Silverwood, added: "We are delighted to have been able to help Hortons' Estate with the leasing of this new retail park development. It's great to see the final piece of the jigsaw in place."
